ENDURANCE Partner Insight series SBT

Can you provide a brief overview of your organisation and its role in the ENDURANCE project?

SBT POSLOVNE RESITVE DOO (SBT) is a Slovenia-based company specializing in comprehensive risk management solutions. Our proprietary “Silver Bullet Risk” (SBR) platform is a testament to our commitment to delivering advanced and effective risk management tools.

In the ENDURANCE project, SBT plays a crucial role as the lead for the first phase of the Disruption Resilience Services work package (WP7). Specifically, we are responsible for leading the first phase of definition and implementation of the Multi-Dimensional Risk & Resilience Assessment Services. This involves elevating our existing SBR platform to meet the project’s ambitious goals. Furthermore, we are active contributors to several other work packages and are involved in the Slovenian MESO pilot, which focuses on disruption resilience in the Digital and Energy sectors.

How does the ENDURANCE project align with your organisation’s mission and objectives? Why is it significant to your sector, and what impact do you hope it will have?

The ENDURANCE project aligns perfectly with SBT’s mission to innovate and provide state-of-the-art risk management solutions. This project presents a significant opportunity to enhance our proprietary SBR platform and expand its capabilities into the critical and challenging domain of critical infrastructure (CI) resilience. The project’s focus on moving beyond traditional qualitative risk assessment to a unified quantitative methodology is a key ambition for us and for the risk management sector as a whole.

For us, ENDURANCE is significant because it addresses the pressing need for more precise, objective, and integrated approaches to risk and resilience assessment for CIs. We hope the project will have a transformative impact by demonstrating the value of quantitative, real-time, and cross-sectoral risk evaluation, setting a new standard for the industry. We believe this will empower CI operators and authorities with the actionable
intelligence they need for prompt and effective responses to disruptions.

What specific contributions is your organisation making to the ENDURANCE project? What are the key outcomes or goals your organisation hopes to achieve through the ENDURANCE projecT?

SBT’s primary contribution to the ENDURANCE project is leading the design, development, and implementation of the Multi-Dimensional Risk & Resilience Assessment Services (Tasks T7.2 and T8.2). A cornerstone of this contribution is the enhancement of our proprietary “Silver Bullet Risk” (SBR) platform, which will be infused with advanced quantitative risk assessment know-how, delivering it within a service.

Our key goals are to:

  1. Develop a sophisticated and unified quantitative methodology for risk and resilience assessment that can be applied across different essential service domains.
  2. Elevate our SBR platform to a TRL7 solution, creating a market-ready, innovative tool for CI resilience.
  3. Deliver a service capable of real-time monitoring and continuous risk evaluation for robust decision-making.
  4. Contribute to the success of the Slovenian MESO pilot and other project activities by providing our expertise in risk management.

Looking ahead, what lasting impact do you hope the ENDURANCE project will have on your organisation, the sector, or the broader community? What are your long-term goals related to the project?

We envision the ENDURANCE project having a multi-faceted and lasting impact. For SBT, this project will be a catalyst for growth, enhancing our core product and expertise in risk management, and opening up new markets for us in the European CI protection sector.

The collaboration with a wide range of CI stakeholders will also provide us with invaluable insights and a strong network for future endeavors. For the risk management sector, we hope to create a shift from traditional, qualitative risk assessment to more precise and objective quantitative methods. This will lead to more effective risk control and resource allocation for CIs. For the broader community, the enhanced resilience of CIs will contribute to greater economic stability and societal preparedness, ensuring the continuous provision of essential services that European citizens rely on.

Our long-term goal is to establish the enhanced SBR platform as a leading solution for CI resilience in Europe. We are committed to the sustainability of the project’s results and will continue to build on the collaborative relationships forged within ENDURANCE to further innovate and contribute to a more resilient Europe.

What key insights or advice would you offer to other partners or future collaborators? Is there anything else you’d like to share about your organisation’s involvement in ENDURANCE or any final thoughts on the project’s future?

A key takeaway for us from our involvement in projects like ENDURANCE is the immense value of a user-driven, co creation approach. Engaging end-users, such as CI operators and authorities, from the very beginning is crucial to ensure that the developed solutions are not only technologically advanced but also practical, relevant, and aligned with their real-world needs and challenges. Our advice to other partners and future collaborators is to build strong, trust-based relationships through open and continuous communication. Relationships based on trust are the bedrock of successful innovation.

We are confident that the ENDURANCE project will make a significant contribution to strengthening the resilience of Europe’s critical infrastructures. The project’s holistic and collaborative methodology, combined with the expertise of the consortium partners, creates a powerful synergy for success. SBT is proud to contribute its expertise in risk management and is fully committed to achieving the ambitious goals of ENDURANCE, for a safer and more resilient future for all European citizens
