ENDURANCE Headers (1)

The ENDURANCE project, an Horizon Europe funded by the European Union, is advancing Europe’s capacity to withstand and recover from disruptions that threaten essential services and critical infrastructures. Now entering its second year, the project continues to bring together experts and authorities from across Europe to strengthen resilience against both cyber and physical threats, including natural hazards.

The goal of ENDURANCE is to define and establish the foundations for an EU-wide ecosystem of data, models, methods, tools, and services to help Member State authorities and Critical Infrastructure (CI) operators evaluate, understand, and proactively ensure resilience. The project focuses on Critical Entities, both public and private, that deliver essential services crucial to societal well-being, economic stability, public health, safety, and environmental protection.

Coordinated by EVIDEN Romania and involving 23 partners from 7 European countries, ENDURANCE works to enhance the resilience of Critical Infrastructure. Over its three-year duration, the project will test innovative approaches and tools in six key sectors—digital, energy, health, public administration, drinking water, and wastewater—across four EU Member States. Through collaboration and knowledge exchange, ENDURANCE aims to ensure that Europe’s vital services remain strong and adaptable in the face of evolving risks.

RDFW’s contribution

The Region of West Greece Development Fund (RDFW), the competent authority for civil protection at the regional level, contributes to the co-design and testing of project results to ensure their relevance and applicability across sectors. RDFW participates in joint activities and workshops that promote cooperation among European critical infrastructure stakeholders, helping to improve risk assessment and preparedness in line with the project’s all-hazards framework.

As part of the project dissemination efforts, RDFW will present the ENDURANCE project during the Forum Anaptyxis (Growth Forum), an annual event in Patras that, for the past 28 years, has brought together organizations, businesses, and citizens to discuss regional development and current affairs. RDFW will take part in the session “Resilience and Sustainability in Times of Climate and Digital Crises,” on November 22, from 11:00 to 13:00 (Greece time), to inform participants about the project’s objectives and ongoing work to strengthen resilience across Europe.
