Following a first successful series of national workshops held in 2024, the ENDURANCE Project has continued its mission to strengthen Europe’s resilience to disruptions through a second round of national workshops across Italy, Slovenia, Romania, and Greece. These follow-up events marked an important step forward — moving beyond initial dialogue and conceptual alignment toward more concrete solutions, operational tools, and deeper cross-sector collaboration.
Italy
The second Italian local workshop took place on February 6th in Trieste, hosted by Insiel and the Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia. Building on the foundations laid during the first workshop, this session focused on “From Theory to Action: Methodologies and Tools of the European Disruption Strategy.”
Participants from multiple Italian regions, alongside academic and research institutions, worked to translate strategic frameworks into practical methodologies. The discussions reinforced the importance of interregional cooperation and the development of shared tools to enhance digital resilience.
Slovenia
On March 10th, Slovenia hosted its second national workshop at the ELES Technology Centre. Expanding on the priorities identified in the first workshop, this session focused on identifying actionable solutions to strengthen critical infrastructure resilience.
Stakeholders explored how to better align policy with operational realities, with particular attention to public–private partnerships and cross-sector coordination. The introduction of ENDURANCE tools, including risk assessment approaches and the All Hazard framework, reflected a clear shift toward implementation and real-world application.
Romania
Romania’s second national workshop, held on March 17th, brought together an even broader group of stakeholders compared to the first edition, highlighting growing engagement across sectors.
The discussions moved beyond identifying challenges to exploring concrete solutions, including the use of Digital Twin technologies for monitoring and simulation, and the development of governance frameworks for resilience. The workshop also emphasised lessons learned since the first meeting and the need to strengthen cooperation between public institutions and private operators.
Greece
The Greek partners hosted their second national workshop on March 19th in Athens, further developing the dialogue initiated during the first workshop.
This session placed strong emphasis on operationalising the Draft European Disruption Resilience Strategy, particularly across its four key pillars: governance, social and community resilience, economic systems, and infrastructure. Participants also explored practical challenges in the Greek context, while showcasing innovative pilot solutions such as early-warning systems for drought detection.
From Dialogue to Action
Across all four countries, the second round of workshops demonstrated clear progress: from awareness-raising and initial alignment in 2024 to more advanced discussions on implementation, tools, and real-world challenges in 2025. A shared understanding emerged: resilience is not a one-time objective, but an ongoing, collaborative process requiring continuous adaptation, innovation, and coordination across sectors and borders. The ENDURANCE Project continues to play a key role in supporting this transition, helping to turn strategy into action and strengthen Europe’s capacity to respond to an increasingly complex risk landscape.
